Gibson ES 295 input jack repair

This Gibson ES 295 is just one example of a hollow body guitar with a side input jack that is vulnerable to cracks as seen in photo 1. I use a special brass rod attached to a 1/4" guitar jack. After pushing the jack through the body, I disconnect so I can widen the hole to install a Switchcraft extra long input jack. The curved metal jack plate will reinforce this area of vulnerability. Now with my special tool I can pull the input jack back through the hole, now with a star washer, to grip the jack on the inside of the body. I then tighten all parts and attach the screws to the plate totally stabilizing the unput jack to normal, even heavy wear and tear. This repair works best when caught early so check the jack every time you plug in! Click on Photos
